Mount Kilimanjaro stands 330 kms south
of the equator, on the northern boundary of Tanzania. It is set in an open plain close to the Indian Ocean,
and it's great size and
height strongly influence the climate and thus it's vegetation, animal
life and climbing conditions.
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. It is composed of three extinct volcanoes:
Kibo 5895m (19340ft), Mawenzi
5149m (16896ft) and Shira 3962m (13000ft). It is the world's highest free standing mountains,
it's bulk looming 4800m above an
undulating plain that averages 1000m above sea level.

On routes such as Marangu, a six day trek you can enjoy an
incredible journey through several climatic vegetation zones from tropical rainforest, moorland / alpine desert and onto snow and glacier. Walking is for around 6 hours per
day and then you will be able to relax in the mountain huts which sleep either 4, 12 or 24 persons per hut, with mattresses provided. Each day you progress towards the 13 hour
attack on the summit. On our other routes we supply all your mountaineering tents with ground sheets & cold-weather sleeping mats, large mess tents with floors in which we provide
aluminium tables and chairs with backs and arm-rests, and we supply sanitary portable flush toilets inside enclosed tents. Our treks offer breathtaking scenery and we know all the
very best and less touristy routes such as Lemosho Glades / Shira routes or the Umbwe routes. On all routes our professional cooks will serve you the excellent food you will be
looking forward to at the end of the day’s hike. |
Our safari and mountain guides are a committed team,
passionate to share the wonders of their country. They are all fluent in English. They receive ongoing professional training to uphold our high standard of service.
They are also knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of the mountain as well as on Kilimanjaro's geology. They are very aware of each trekker’s needs especially with
regards to health, injury prevention and pace. You are there primarily to have fun after all, and we guarantee and place emphasis on your satisfaction and enjoyment
on all our tours. To avoid blisters, break in your own boots before you arrive. |
